Year 2 Week 22

Today felt like a productive day.

The black stripe across the top of the head is to remind me not to file away the ears!

I rounded off the tail and tried to deal with the missing chunk from it.

I used a saw towards the end of the 3 hour class to take out some more chunks between the legs and under the head. This caused the major difference I think.

Looking much more like a squirrel now.

Year 2 Week 21

More sawing, Chiselling and filing of the stone squirrel today. Unfortunately I forgot to take any photos. I wouldn't say I made major progress or changes today though.

Year 2 Week 20

Today I did some more 'blocking out' of the stone to get to the basic shape of the sculpture. I used a saw, a mallet, chisels and rasps.

I had one slight mishap while chiselling! A chunk of stone came off the back of the sculpture that wasn't supposed to. I will have to alter it slightly to allow for the missing chunk. I think you can see it quite clearly in the sculpture below.

I hope the basic shape is coming. Lots to do yet though.
