Summer 2010 Second Session

Another hour or so in the garden working on the wood/stone. I have made sure that the two pieces fit together better now.






I have also cut some horizontal slots in the wood to match up with similar slots in the stone.




Below is picture of the back but I haven't done much to this yet.





This session felt more successful than the last. I think there is still quite a lot of work to do though.

Below is a sculpture I saw in an exhibition at Tate Modern. This is where the idea for my current sculpture (above) came from. In the end I hope it will look something like this!

Summer 2010 First Session

As I am taking a break from the course for the summer I spent a couple of hours in the garden on Saturday working on the current sculpture.




I cut a groove in part of the stone for the wood to slot into to marry the two materials together. It was harder work than I expected.





Following is a photo of the two pieces separated so you can see the groove I have cut in the stone.
