We then made a box out of fibreboard big enough for the sculpture to fit in with some space around the edges. We mixied up some sand with a couple of chemicals so that it sets as hard as concrete. Before it sets (of course) we packed it around the scuplture in the box.
After an hour, when the sand mixture had set, we removed the fibreboard box and turned the mould over. We then had to pick out all the plasticine from the mould. It seemed very odd to have to destroy the sculpture that I had spent so much time working on but once you could see the empty mould it was very satisfying.
I'm not sure how the bronze will come out but having made the mould I can see how I should have made the sculpture differently so that the mould and the subsequent bronze would be better.

Fingers crossed. 3 weeks wait now!
